It takes a little practice to learn what information to input to get good content, but Copy.AI does a great job of simplifying the process.
Jasper also has some specific use cases but many of the most useful templates are more general, allowing you to control the specifics by your input information. Because of this, learning how to word the information you input is important. The learning curve is a little steeper but rewards you with higher-quality content that is not restricted to very specific use cases.

Both use the same GTP-3 technology so the underlying abilities are very similar however the algorithms responsible for the content generation are where the ultimate quality is decided.
For short-form content, I have found that both produce high-quality content the majority of the time. Occasionally both produce rather spurious content which can easily be regenerated, with words credited back to your account in Jasper if you ‘red-flag’ the poorly generated content.
Both of these well performing AI content software have many templates for popular short-form content including social media, emails, ad copy, product descriptions and outlines which can then be given a tone; for example helpful, humorous, professional or chatty.
In long-form content, the production method differs.
With Jasper AI the production is very flexible in Boss-Mode. You have the options to be guided through the setup, give commands, switch between templates and edit as you go.
At first, this can feel like a bit of a faff but after a few uses, the benefits become apparent, allowing you to direct the content that is generated, alter the focus, and expand or delete sections. In turn, this informs Jasper’s algorithms for the next sections of content generation.
With Copy.AI’s long-form generator you are guided through the setup with an outline and talking points(which can be edited) and then a whole blog post is created for you in one click. You can create a whole blog post in a couple of minutes!
The lazy part of me thinks this is what AI blog writing should be like but, with the present technology, the finished article quality and content vary dramatically and can sometimes be great, or sometimes completely off-point. I spend much longer on average editing or regenerating the content from Copy.AI than from Jasper but it is very satisfying on the occasions when you get a really good article so very quickly.
Copy.AI seems to produce content which has a more ‘sales’ type of tone to it than Jasper and Jasper’s content seems a little less automated or mechanical, especially in long-form content.
All of the content generators on the market produce better content with ‘general’ topics that have been covered thoroughly online and are somewhat historic. They are less accurate with very current information and highly technical or specific content because of the way the most advanced technology (GPT-3) crawled the web for its data.

Having a huge library of templates is all well and good but if the ones you need for your content creation aren’t there then it is not so useful.
Copy.AI’s library is so big that it can be difficult to find the templates you want without spending a lot of time scrolling through them. To help with this Copy.AI put them into really helpful categories.
I found some of the very specific use templates a bit random; For example, the ‘client offboarding email’ template, the ‘How to write a thank-you note for funeral flowers’ template or the ‘HR assistant cover letter’ template. The number of times I would use many of these use specific templates is zero, so they wouldn’t be worth paying for. I enjoyed trying out some of the fun templates and all of the important marketing, email and social media templates are there.
Jasper has about half the number of templates compared to copy.AI but luckily this includes all of the important marketing, email and social media templates. There are a couple of fairly useless but fun templates thrown in but there are far fewer random specific use-case templates than with Copy.AI
Both have general templates which are perfect for a range of content types but I found that Jasper’s specific templates were more likely to be useful for the types of content I create.

Copy.AI’s long-form wizard produces a complete blog post in a few clicks and a few minutes, but the quality is not consistent and you will need to regenerate and edit or rewrite the output to get it up to an acceptable standard for publication.
Jasper’s long-form editor produces much better quality content overall but needs more input. Editing as you go allows the direction and focus of the content to be controlled and optimized by you during the generation process and ultimately leads to a highly relevant and superior-quality output.

This is a no-brainer and I enjoy using the free version for more personal or specific templates which are not part of Jasper’s Boss-Mode offering. It can also be a backup if I get close to my word limit in Jasper.
Jasper’s starter plan, in comparison, starts at $29 monthly for 20,000 words. If you mainly use short-form templates but need more than 2,000 words then Jasper would be the most cost-effective of the two.
However, if you use more than 20,000 words or if you want to include long-form templates then Copy.AI has a lower starting price. If you are likely to use over 40,000 words then Jasper’s Boss-Mode pricing is cheaper from over 40,000 to 50,000 words and the two are matched on pricing for 100,000 words and 300,000 words.
Copy.AI offers a free version and has the cheapest entry-level long-form price, Jasper is cheaper or matches the price of Copy.AI at some word counts on their plans.

Word on the street is that Jasper is better designed for larger teams and businesses, but I don’t have personal experience with comparing the custom plans.

If you wanted the occasional short-form content and budget was important you could make use of the free monthly plan with Copy.AI, to begin with. The 2000 words per month seem generous but they get used up very quickly so the plan is VERY limited.
If you wanted to use a writing assistant regularly then you would need a paid plan. Assuming that both Jasper and Copy.AI had the templates you wanted to use, then my choice would be:
Jasper AI: for Short-form content (starter plan)
Copy.AI: for budget-conscious, easy-start short-form and fast production of blog posts (understanding that the content may need a lot of editing and sometimes rewriting).
Jasper AI: for higher quality long-form (blogs and articles) with the option of highly recommended integrations.
I would have more trust in Jasper to write in a language that I had a limited understanding of; sometimes Copy.AI’s output is so random that I would feel the need to carefully check and edit the content for errors.
Jasper AI offers more robust features and integrations, but it can also be more complex to use. In contrast, Copy.AI is much simpler to use, but it lacks some of the more advanced features offered by Jasper AI.

Once you’re in the long-form editor, you’ll see two options for configuring your content. You can choose to be guided through the content generation process step-by-step with the Blog post workflow, or you can ‘start from scratch’ and give commands to Jasper directly or make use of any other templates within the long-form editor. Additionally, you can switch between different templates as you’re editing your content in both ‘workflow’ or ‘start from scratch’ options using power mode.
One of the best features of Jasper’s long-form editor is the ability to edit your content as it’s being generated.
